The April WS - Chronographs - is live!
By: KMII : April 5th, 2024-10:38
As announced on Wednesday, the theme for this month’s WS will be chronographs. It is still a super popular complication amongst many of us, even if many (if we are being honest) use it more to experience the pusher feel than to actually time something in ...
And here are some to start off proceedings…

One with a very unique operating mechanism… The largest I have at 51mm with a fully revolving case… One with a strap especially for Abel 😁🇦🇷 One that we know well here 👍🏻😊 A bit of vintage goodness 👍🏻 And another watch well known here that comes closest t...
Thanks again!
By: KMII : April 6th, 2024-04:09
Used to be my favorite complication and to an extent it still is, even if I hardly ever use them as intended 😊🤷🏻♂️
Love the Chopard!
By: Timeout : April 5th, 2024-17:02
And the strap is great with it - good eye!!
Wow! That’s awesome my friend!!
By: Subexplorer : April 6th, 2024-02:15
What an array of superb chronos!! You always remind me that I need a Chopard in my collection!! Cheers! Abel

Seiko used to have a knack of making massive watches very wearable. Had some friends with slender wrists try the 47mm Landmaster the other day and they were all surprised at how well it fit 😊🦾
Right you are!
By: KMII : April 6th, 2024-17:20
And here many brands with their availability squeeze are definitely missing a trick if getting a fully satisfied customer the first time around 👍🏻

The 2446C GMT is my own favourite… but I’m partial too as it is my birth year watch
How cool is that!

By: KMII : April 5th, 2024-13:17
While many more have been finally made than initially promised to by are truly astounding in terms of design and finishing. Would definitely like to add one with a 13.21 movement one day (my hand is too puny for the larger ones 🤷🏻♂️)🤞🏻

I’m always in awe of Minerva movements.
By: Timeout : April 6th, 2024-13:11
I’d love to add one at some stage - but have yet to find a modern dial that draws me in, apart from some of the limited edition recent releases that are hard to source.
They are amazing indeed!
By: KMII : April 6th, 2024-17:24
But do try especially the 44 and 45mm ones first to make sure they are comfortable on your wrist 😊👍🏻
Many thanks!
By: Timeout : April 6th, 2024-17:53
I have a 17.2cm wrist - with a flat top which makes larger wears more accessible. Largest in my collection is my Zeitwerk Striking Time at 44mm in WG which wears quite comfortably - but with relatively short lugs.
So here goes.

The who is who of modern chronographs 👌🏻🙌🏻👏🏻
By: KMII : April 5th, 2024-13:40
Some truly astounding pieces you show and it’s hard to choose only one 😁 Although I have to say your CdV shot with the hat is an all time classic and always a top contender for top spots 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Thanks KM
By: Timeout : April 5th, 2024-16:58
I’ve reached the age where I can pull off the “hat look”🤣. Trilbies are easier than most - working up the nerve for a Homburg!
I have a hard time with the Patek movement.
By: Timeout : April 5th, 2024-17:01
The issue is the column wheel cap which takes up a large amount of real estate on the caseback and its polished surface is quite a distraction. The CDV movement is prettier - but they both come a distance 2nd and 3rd to the Datograph.
Haven’t noticed an issue with the reliability.
By: Timeout : April 5th, 2024-19:22
I have a fairly large number of watches so don’t tend to wear any one for more than a day or so. Ironically the only one to exhibit rate issues was the Datograph - which had become massively magnetized for some reason. The balance wheel was banking and th...

Chrono king! CdV and dato normally are tops...but this FPJ 🤤 (and I'm not even an fpj fan boy)
Thanks!
By: Timeout : April 5th, 2024-23:17
I’m no fanboy either - I try to find the positives in all brands - although some are easier than others 🤣. As far as FPJ goes I’m off the beaten track with this Linesport Rattrapante, a Havana RG Chronometre Souverain and a platinum Quantieme Perpetuel. I...

Now that is not something one sees everyday 👍🏻👌🏻 Really like the use of the quartz movement to make unusual design choices and it’s a cool piece overall 😊👍🏻
The bane of our existence 😂

Still unmatched when it comes to matching 🙌🏻👌🏻👏🏻

The dial / sweater combination is sublime 😍😍😍 And the Alpine Eagle is surely a proud specimen of the genre. As for the next ones, something concrete planned? 😊
+1🤩

Impressive!!!
By: Timeout : April 6th, 2024-13:13

Wow - great selection of chronographs over the years.
By: Timeout : April 6th, 2024-13:10
I love this version of the JLC Duometre and the 5172G is a modern classic. I’m glad you have the modern Daytona down as a daily beater as I think it fits this role well. Personally I’m more drawn to older models - such as the 6263 - not that I have one🤣 ...

By: Subexplorer : April 6th, 2024-03:10

By: KMII : April 6th, 2024-04:27
And some amazing entries (have to be, when the CdV is forgotten and only mentioned as a PS 😁👌🏻). The Flightmaster is one of my favorites, too and would love to add one someday - any watch with a DC-8 is cool to me 😁✈️ The P15 we both appreciate (as do man...

By: KMII : April 6th, 2024-17:26
Not sure those early examples can be sourced for anything like an acceptable price 🤷🏻♂️ The disadvantage of a late birth I guess 😁 Thanks again for all the additional details 🙏🏻
Yes it is. But the last version was introduced…
By: Subexplorer : April 7th, 2024-13:26

I always forget about how significant these were when first introduced. I have dated this one to March 1973. Not bad shape for 51yrs. 😀
