Observatoire Registry is Underway

Thanks for the interest in this project, and to the PuristS who have already sent me messages saying you want to participate, welcome!  I will be sending each of you an Excel spreadsheet that I hope will be easy to fill in with your info.

Below is my catalogue of the dimensions along which these watches vary -- suffice it to say that even I was surprised by the potential diversity, and I may be missing a few areas.  Admittedly, there are some of the dimensions that will be highly correlated (e.g., white embossing on dark dials, anthracite hour markers with anthracite numerals) but already we have seen variations on this (the "stealth" watch with black embossing on a black dial, a watch with silver numerals and RG hour marker dots, etc.).  Finally, there are a few dimensions that aren't about the cased watch per se (strap colors and styles delivered with the watch, for instance) but I wanted to be complete.  This is probably a carry-over from my automotive "life," in which I participate in concours from time to time, and where the key criterion is "correctness" as the car came from the factory.

I figured that there might be additional variations, but had no idea of some of the ones that you describe! I'll adjust my spreadsheet accordingly before sending out to participants -- and fully expect that there will be added adjustments as we go... All ...

Thanks for spearheading what could potentially be a wonderful, informative resource for all -- particularly for someone like me, who will not be able to own an Observatoire, but would love a window into the varied world of that particular model. I hope lo...
