L.U.C  XPS

Less is more

Technical sophistication, aesthetic refinement, understated design. Since its launch in 2006, the L.U.C XP has become a classic. This new version features two noteworthy innovations: a sapphire crystal enabling one to admire the beauty of the movement; and a small seconds display at 6 o’clock.

Accommodating a self-winding movement with twin barrels and a 65-hour power reserve inside an ultra-thin case is no mean feat. The watchmakers of Chopard Manufacture in Fleurier have accomplished this by means of a clever construction featuring a micro rotor. The designers have also perfectly conceived the large-diameter (39.50 mm) round case with its flat bezel and slender case band – resulting in light, dynamic, timeless and supremely balanced lines composing a model that won first prize in the ultra-thin watch category in the 2006 Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix.

In response to the wishes of men with a taste for fine horological mechanisms, Chopard has equipped its new L.U.C XPS with a sapphire crystal back providing an admirable view of the L.U.C 12.96 movement and its bridges adorned with a straight “Côtes de Genève” motif. The other new feature is the seconds indication that now appears at 6 o’clock on the elegantly understated dial. Crafted in 18-carat white gold with a black dial or in 18-carat rose gold with a silvered dial, these two new variations embodying an ideal blend of aesthetic appeal and technical performance are both duly certified by the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC).

Has the font for this XPS been changed? Looks more subdued. Can't decide which one I like more. Thanks Kong. Lionel

I like it!

I'm glad they put the display back on, it was just such a silly thing missing from the first XP series. My only worry, and this might be taken care of by seeing more pictures, is that the crown appears oddly small to the case. That and I want it in steel!...

What a beauty

A little big for me, but perfect as a dress watch for dear husband. Looking forward to more pix. G

Subtle beauty ...
