Press Release

At the upcoming 2009 World Watch & Jewellery Show in Basel, Montres Breguet S.A. will introduce a timepiece that reflects both its undisputed technological capacity and its unrivalled historical heritage. Inventor of the tourbillon regulator mechanism, Breguet unveils this year a new pink gold version of its celebrated Twin Rotating Tourbillion.

Classique Grande Complication 5347 Twin Rotating Tourbillons

The spectacular outcome of years of methodical development, the Breguet Twin Rotating Tourbillons features a hand-wound movement with a pair of toubillon regulators rotating on the hour axis. An aesthetic as well as a technical masterpiece, this watch comes today with a 44 mm pink gold case housing over 570 components, all painstakingly assembled by Breguet's master watchmakers.

Working independently from one another, two tourbillons are coupled by means of differential gears and are mounted on a rotating centre plate effecting a complete revolution in twelve hours. The differential device conveys the two tourbillons' mean rate to the rotating centre plate, resulting in a degree of precision twice that of a standard watch. The hour is shown by means of the bridge connecting the tourbillon regulators that doubles as a watch hand, while the minutes are indicated by a standard hand at centre.

Impeccable finish and spectacular engraving work on the back of the case add to the extraordinary appeal of this timepiece. This exceptionally handsome timepiece represents unquestioned prestige with its mainplate, engine-turned by hand; a chapter ring inscribed with Roman numerals; Breguet hands in 18-carat pink gold; a movement with decorated bridges and other bevelled and hand- polished components.

Initially launched at the 2006 Basel Fair, this grande complication design with double tourbillon was available at that time in insufficient numbers.  It was delivered in 2008 to Breguet clients who had ordered the watch, often paying in advance. Improved manufacturing capacity now enables Breguet to deliver the first of these new pink gold models by the end of 2009 as well as orders from the original 2006 launch.

It is very difficult to take good pics in a booth, and I'm amazed by the quality of yours. Well, I will have to see one in the flesh before any final judgement. I'm a bit sceptic about the proportions of this one, as it has a very big case ( 44 mm, if i'm...
