Patek 5711/1A OR Daytona + PAM 233?
Jul 13 2008,20:07 PM

Which combo would you choose to compliement a PAM 249 in the collection? Only thing is the 5711/1A I need to be on the wait list until the end of next year but the other combo I can get right away. Thanks for your opinion.

Difficult to speak of " complement "

As the Cali and your options are so different...

I'd go on a 5711, as the Dayto is ok, but not extraordinary, and the 233 is a Panerai I don't like, with its " pumpkin dial "..LOL

My 2 Euro Cents...

BTW...Welcome here!

best.

Thanks...I guess this is really an issue

Of quantity vs quality, I decided I wanted "quality" for my collection of PAM's and hence am left with only 2 now.

And yes the Daytona is rather ordinary for a watch which is supposedly Rolex's ace in the lineup.

If u have to wait till end of next year for the PP, I'd get the PAM233
Jul 14 2008,21:39 PM

and pass on the Daytona because the Daytona is so ordinary and everyone has one.  By the time it's end of next year, if u need the funds, u can always sell the PAM233.

Cheers,
Anthony

i will go with the patek.

You dont see that many around compared to the daytona and soon to the 233, but if you really want it now and money is not an issue another option is to buy it with premium. By the time you get the patek from your ad and with prices increasing so much lately i am wondering what the difference will be if you buy it now, plus you get to enjoy it from now, not in 2 yrs down the road.

Premium vs Non-Premium
Jul 16 2008,06:47 AM

Did the math and it was about 20% and not even counting for the fact I have to pay a 20% deposit on hold for 1.5 yrs. So lets say 4-5 price hikes from the current list...LOL yah it would be about the same and at most a few percentage cheaper. BTW is it normal for the wait list to be this long for the SS model?

Go for the Patek..
Jul 18 2008,02:19 AM

I sold my Daytona, Sea Dweller to fund the 5712. I'm in the process of selling some more to fund 5980. In the end, you only keep the best in your collection and to me Patek is the best!

I still keep a submariner as my daily beater!
