My first PAM !

Hi people..

Like many, i've been a frequent lurker here, trying to absorb as much information as possible. Finally, there came a stage where i could not resist the call of the Panerai !

I desperately wanted to start off my PAM collection with a Base model, as i always felt that this was the "essence" of PAM.. now the big question - Luminor Base or Rad Base ?? While the Luminor Base is quite appealing with its macho looks and rugged feel, the Rad Base has an immeasurably classy feel to it..

I vacillated for a long time between a 112, a 176, a 183 and a 210 (I wasn't helped at all by an AD friend who said that he had the 176 and the 210 which arrived together), but after hours of doubting and forum research, I finally plumped for a 210 (Don't ask me why) !!!

The beauty arrived last week, and i haven't had a chance to take proper photos yet, but here is a quick wrist shot.. i couldn't be happier with the watch..there's a great feel having a PAM on the wrist, i must say ! This will steal a substantial portion of my wrist time away from my JLC MC Geo, Hublot BB PG, Breitling Chronomat and my Omega SM Diver.. 

Now how long before i feel the need to get some nice after-market straps !!

Glad to see another lurker coming out of the woods and posting, and I hope other lurkers here follow your lead!

I don't know if you have seen it, but we recently just had a poll regarding Luminor Base vs Radiomir Base:  click here

Your 210 looks great on your wrist, and I love your picture.  Very nice composition IMO.  The question you should be asking yourself is now how long before you feel the need to get your 2nd Panerai

Hi,

Enjoy your 210! Superb watch and appealing pic!

I tried on a 183 yesterday and unfortunately he didn't have the 210 in stock! I would have run out with it!

LOL Anthony, i understand what you mean about the 2nd PAM.. I'm pretty sure i will get a 2nd one somewhere down the line.. probably a manual Luminor..

Jerome, best of luck with your search.. hope you get the 210 as well.. then we can compare straps !

Bill, nice strap you got there.. looks like i've already got the strap disease.. i wonder which straps would look good on the 210.. hmmm !

P.S. I still have a lot to learn about photographing watches.. although i do have a good camera, i need to shut out those reflections !

And happy to see a man of taste, of excellent taste , beginning his Panerai collection ( in case if you didn't already know it, this is your first, not your last...LOLOL) by a Rad!
Most of people begins with a Luminor, and come after on a Rad, while getting the sense, the beauty of this case.
Yep, this Rad, as the Cali or the 232, or the 190 is one of the 3 or 4 essential Rad!
Congrats, your choice is historicaly and esthetically excellent!

Really nice and hope you enjoy it. One of the nicest pams as it is a clean sandwich dial.

You should listen to Anthony, the more you go into search for panerai the more panerai you will want! So watch out!

I was on the fence for a 210 when I found a nice G-series 183 with Black Seal down and Panerai decoration, and I went for that piece. But seeing your Base here again remind me how sweet it is! Enjoy it!!

A lot of people say start with panerai with Luminor then Rads........

A lot of people say start with Marina then later you will love base.

However, you overtake several people to choose the Rad + Base.......wow the right choice.
