An nice escape from Paris
Jul 15 2008,03:14 AM

We decided to have a small break for this long WE in France, as it was the 14th of July...The " Fete Nationale", here...

So, not far from Paris, there is a nice place, called Fontainebleau...Which was frequented at the time by Napoleon.

And not far from Fontainebleau, a small village whose name will maybe say something to you: Barbizon, where some famous painters and artists went to find their inspiration, and peace of mind.

So, for most of you, I decided to take these exotic pics, so french! LOL

Here, at the end of the Village, the Fontainebleau Forest:

Let's go ahead...

Big Stones!

Well, these impressive stones have an interest...

A portrait of Theodore Gauthier...Quite amazing to find this kind of masterpiece in the Forest!

Barbizon is such a lovely place, with a cool ambiance,

And beautiful houses...

Charming hotels, where you cal feel the presence of the past, a bit everywhere, in this village...

In the doors, the frontdoors, a bit averywhere, indeed...

Part II, Fontainebleau

I posted here the first pics about Fontainebleau...

Here are the additional pics:

A superb hotel, just near the Castel ...called " The Black Eagle "

I never knew if the name was re to Barbara song called The Black Eagle, too, or if it was in reference to Napoleon...And I still prefer to ignore it, to go on dreaming about this lovely name...

Then, the most important thing to see in Fontainebleau is, of course, the Chateau ( Castel )...

And just after this front part of the Castel...

Go ahead, and a bit on your right, and you will see ...That!

Beauty everywhere, my friends...

Hope that you enjoyed!
Best.

Hello nicolas, You really have a good camera (or a good photographer). I've been to Fontainebleau at my 12th birthday (somewhere in 1924), so i don't really remember a lot of it. But last year i went to the chateau of VAUX-LE-VICOMTE near Paris. The guy where we stayed told us to go there instead of going to Fontainebleau, but i guess i should visit Fontaineblau once again. Greetings, Filip

... should be 1781 .... i was 12 in that year (also in 1981).... so if you think hard you really know who i am now .... IN LIFE YOU NEED A LOT OF HUMOR TO SURVIVE !!! (Bimbeano - 2008) .... and champagne off course ...

and if you're in for a brand new ROLEKS; i'm your man ...

Enjoy ... Filip
