Provocative Posting - Trade a 45 mm PO for GO SE?
Jul 16 2008,08:12 AM
I'm posting this on the Omega site in the sincere (and friendly) hope that I get as biased an audience of readers (pro-Omega, that is....) to read and respond (LOL). I have owned Omegas for years and currently own a 45 mm PO Coaxial Chronometer (latest iteration movement) with solid steel bracelet. I love it, etc., etc. No need for me to ask myself which side I fall on in terms of the PO-SD divide....I also love Glashutte Original and own (and have owned) several of their models. So here's my question: Putting money aside, and knowing that this is to fill the "sport watch" niche, how do you feel about my trading-in the PO for a Glashutte Original Sport Original Panoramadatum (ref number 39-42-43-03-14)? Thanks.....give me your thoughts as much as possible. DB |

I'd go on the GO SE, db darien

As the GO SE looks more refined, IMO, woth its beautiful bezel... But this is difficult to answer, as each of us has his own sensibility in brands, tastes, colors, women , watches...LOLOL I feel more secure with the GO choice, but this may result of my ignorance of the Omega Watches, as my knowledge is summed with the only SM 300 Vintage, and a bloody Pilot watch from 1938 that I hunt... That's the only thing I can tell you, and I'm sorry to not elaborate more my answer and position here... Best. Nicolas |

Personally, I certainly prefer the GO in this case |

same dilemma here

I'm trying to make a similar choice: new PO 42 mm vs. new GO SE -- I don't have any dive watches and am looking for my first. Your PO 45 is, I think, somewhat larger than the SE, which is advertised as 42 mm. |

the PO is a real knockaround true everyday watch that you can really 'live in', as nice as it is. |

I won't disagree with your characterization of the GO SE as "art" and how you treat it. But I've owned and worn both watches, for an extended period of time. I can tell you, unequivocally, that the PO outweighs the GO and, due to its 45 mm case, is bigger. So your implication that the GE SE has an element of impracticality due to its size and/or weight, versus the more "practical" PO, is simply not the case. I've owned and lived with both for an extended perod of time and I know. |

Do you still own them both?

Curious because you use the past tense. How much rotation did they get? |

How Long
Jul 19 2008,12:26 PM I've continuously owned Omega Seamasters for 15 years and have had the current PO for over a year. I've owned Glashuttes for the past two years and owned the SE for about six months. I wore both continuously. I traded-in the SE to get my current G.O. Navigator. I felt concluded that at that price level, the Navigator was a more desirable watch for me because the PO filled the niche of a daily wearer with metal bracelet so admirably. Since then, I've gotten that itch again (and I like to tweak my line-up once a year). So I miss the SE and am reconsidering. Another live option is to keep the PO and get a Rolex Milgauss.
