Speedmaster Pro Chronograph Start/Stop broken. Any ideas?
Jul 01 2008,13:00 PM

Hi, first post here.

I got my Speedmaster Pro in Jan. 2007, Calibre 1861, ref 3570.50.00 and I love it!

Unfortunately the chronograph has started acting up. When I start it, it started off fine. Then when I try and press again to stop it won't. If I leave it for a while then sometimes the button 'magically' becomes functional again. There doesn't seem to be a pattern to it. I've tried shaking it, winding it, pulling the crown out and in again, but nothing works. It just randomly starts to work again.

Then it even stopped starting. So, I left it to wind down. When I wound it again from empty the chrono seemed to be fixed and started and stopped perfectly every time.

Sadly, it's started acting up again.

Is this a common issue or am I just unlucky? I take superb care of my watch and it's still immaculate. Never been near water and always taken off during sports.

I think the only option is to send it back to Omega via the dealer, which I'm reluctant to do as I don't trust dealers, they just don't respect things as I've had watches damaged by carelessness in the past.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Steve

Hi Steve,

Why not just send it into Omega's service center directly? I've done it before and the service is great!

You can call them and find out exactly what you need to do thus eliminating your AD as a middleman.  Sorry I can't diagnose the problem for you but it doesn't matter, it would be anything you could fix on your own anyways.

On a sidenote, it really is too bad that some dealers don't take their aftersales service seriously...afterall isn't that the reason why people tend to shop at an authorized dealer for "outstanding service"?  Perhaps you should give the dealer a chance to prove their worth.

Best of luck,

Mike
