provenance o this 1915s Omega beauty
Jul 01 2008,01:55 AM

dear All, thank you for the wonderful article. I have a few questions about this omega watch and perhaps you could give me your advice: 1. One of the jewells in the middle seems to be missing - what do you think? 2. what caliber is it? 3. given that you can not see Geneva stripes, is it a rather common movement or quiet collectable? 4. Any other factors I should bear in mind ? Sorry to hassle you with questions but I would be very grateful to have our opinion Kind Regards Alexander Von Rozen, PARIS Respond to this post |

I'm not an expert on watches of that age but there are two possibilities.

1) It is a recased, or altered (lugs added) pocket-watch.

2) It is a genuine early wristwatch, which I would be inclined to believe because of the radium numerals.

As for the missing jewel, are you sure it is actually "missing" or was it made without a ruby jewel in that position?

If you could post some larger pics that might help.

Kind regards,

Chris

dear Chris,

thank you very much for your detailed answer. I will try to send you more enlarged picture and if that will give you some more "clues" I would be grateful to hear your opinion. Please do not hesitate to ask me if you have a question about one of your watches.

Kind Regards

Alexander

But you may be able to look under the balance wheel and find the caliber # engraved there.

The jewl may have been lost and repaired with a brass bushing, or it may have been like that originally.
