My Omega Speedmaster Pro
May 04 2008,15:11 PM

I've had this watch for a number of years.  Does not appear to be working.  I'd like to learn more about it and find out where I can send it to get it repaired.  Can anyone tell me what year it is by looking at the backplate?  I'd also like to know where I can get an omega band for it.  Also, how much can I expect to pay for a repair?

Hi Logan

Your Speedy could be from as early as the mid 1970s...

It is a classic...  Well worth having repaired. Where are you located ? I can give you a good watchmaker to work with.

I'm In Southeast Ohio (Athens)  which is about 1 1/2 hours from Columbus....2 1/2 hours from cincinatti.  Can you also tell me where I can find a nice leather band (all I can find online looks like garbage)

You will find original Omega parts, bands, bracelets...

The owner, Mr Frei, is very well known in the Omega fans community, for his occasional rash manners... he's quite impatient, but he does offer a lot of hard-to-find parts for Omega watches. If you abide by the rules of his store, you'll be well served!

Be careful about what model you order. The lug width on this model is 20 mm. In the Omega forums, you will find many pictures of this Speedmaster model on different bands or bracelets. Take a good look around!

You will find more information on Speedmaster bracelets here .

Nice watch! Has it been in your family all those years?

By the way...

...this Speedmaster is probably model 145.022, from the seventies.

There are absolutely TONS of information on the Moon Watch in all the watch forums. It is such a classic, and a historical model.

You can start with this classic write-up, by Jack Forster, on this very forum! Complete with a working GIF of the chronograph mechanism.

Best.
