GP 2008 - the new "Evo Moon" Laureato Evo moon phase
May 04 2008,04:49 AM
Dear enthusiasts, it´s with pleasure to have a closer look at two models shortly mentioned before; the new additions to the reference 80185 Laureato Evo Moon Phase/Large Date or "Evo Moon". The 80185 model is somewhat of a rarity within GP´s portfolio, but the watch scene as well. Technically, the movement is unchanged and the GP3330-RLM00 caliber remains to be the power house for the "Evo Moon": The same goes for the outer dimensions of the watch case, which well may be the most comfortable piece for it´s size (about 40mm without and 42.6mm including the crown). New for 2008 are two variants and a change to all Evo Moons: The new 2008 case features a higher bezel, which underlines the masculine look of this decidedly sportive, but still exceptionally elegant model. With 12.9mm the "Evo Moon" still is a watch that fits under a sleeve very well and allows for versatile use. The hand-finished case and bracelet is a pleasure, so it´s just never out of place! The first new 2008 model introduces a new dial variations, which is both unusual and interesting; a metallic blue "gun metal finish" dial surface is a great addition: The new dial doesn´t appear as "classic blue" on first sight, but it´s more an ethereal look! The colour and reflections do change a lot depending on the lighting conditions, which can result both in a very blue appearance, but also an almost grey look. That´s very interesting to see and the "waffle" dial further enhances the effect. Personally i find the new blue dial to be just great, as it´s as unusual as the Evo Moon itself is. A great match! The second new model widens the range of 80185 models by a different case material and introduces Rose Gold to this model. The technical data are unchanged towards the steel models, but the weight is prominently different due to the massive case. The RG Evo Moon is on the more hefty side for an elegant piece, but very comfortable on the wrist nonetheless. It´s for sure a perfect daily companion and the new brown dial, which is fitted with accents matching the case, is a perfectly versatile choice as well. While the pictured unit is a prototype only, some impressions may help here as well: All in all, to me both new models and the changed bezel geometry make for genuine improvements. Greetings from Germany, Peter |

I prefer the bluish-grey dial than the plain black one. It shows the dial finishes better. |

Hi Peter,
With the enlarge diammeter basically GP is going all out for the middle class requirement and taste with the price segment. I think they(GP) will have good result with this introduction but sad enough they didnt make much changes compared to the earlier ones.In my opinion, the enlargement of case and some modification on functionality will justify more on their creativity and sales figure too. Just my little thoughts here. Thanks for sharing. BHK9 |

Both new additions are really nice.
Although i understand there is a balance between sporty/elegant for this watch i am wondering how nice it would look with a 44mm case! Thanks dP |
