1860
Jul 07 2008,17:25 PM

I posed a question last year about the markings on my 1860 hunter back.  I now have the answer from Chopard.  My 1860 hunter-back is marked as "1860", while all the other examples I have seen or heard of are marked as "16/1860/1".  The location of this marking is on the case back inside the hunter back at 12:00.   Chopard, who had my watch in their possession, confirmed to me that they marked the early yellow gold 1860 hunter-backs with only 1860, and later changed the marking to 16/1860/1.   I understand most of the hunter backs are marked 16/1860/1, and perhaps less than 30 are marked 1860.   It is unclear if any of the rose gold or white gold versions were marked 1860, and all of them may bear the 16/1860/1 marking.  Can any other owners or those in the know share how their 1860 hunter back is marked?

Very Interesting and unique pictures of 1860, which not seen before...

Posting on behalf of Bob Yeager.

Indeed seeing is believing!

Both pictures are of the same model 16/1860/1 with the half-hunter case.

Pic#1 to 3 is from a piece produced before the serial 030/100 while Pic #4 is 088/100.

Comparing  Pic#1 to 3 with Pic #4,  the model number on the caseback is different!

The 02X/100 is engraved with the model number as 1860  whereas

the 088/100 is engraved as 16/1860/1 !

Hey Bob....you have an unique piece!

Thanks for sharing with us the pictures.

Kong
