JLC Watchmaking Week - Around the World
Jul 16 2008,18:46 PM
Atmos clock celebrates 80 years Ngee Ann City is a large shopping mall in Orchard Road, Singapore. Within - are many boutiques for the familiar luxury and watch brands we have come to love so much. Even the vastness of this shopping mall is insufficient for the crowds expected at the JLC Watchmaking Week (17 - 22 July) that launches their global celebrations. So, they built a 'structure' in Civic Plaza at the entrance to the mall. The exhibition will eventually move on to Malaysia, France, Germany and China so PuristS in those countries can also enjoy the celebrations. We look forward to all your comments and experiences here....... JLC WATCHMAKING WEEK There will be JLC heritage exhibits and hands-on classes about watchmaking and movement decoration. I had already been to a couple of previous JLC Master Classes and gave up my place because demand was so high from more deserving PuristS. Aarrghhh - later, I found out a new movement caliber was being taught at this event....... Never mind, some more erudite watch-geek can tell us all about it later.
ATMOS Another highlight is the 80th anniversary of the Atmos clock. This marvel of near perpetual autonomy has been an object of both love and dissent in the MTF household. The current Mrs MTF and I love the concept but cannot agree on the style, so we have vacillated for nearly a decade on which ONE iconic clock to buy...... I'm a little bit Country and she is kinda RocknRoll - sigh - it ain't going to happen. TIMEWERKE magazine has collaborated with JLC to produce limited copies of a special booklet "Atmos - The Secrets of Eternal Life" for participants at the exhibition. But not to panic, folks, the booklet will also be a supplement inside the next edition of TIMEWERKE. Meanwhile here is a sneak peek that we had to sit on until today.........

Hi MTF, great news....
Jul 16 2008,21:47 PM
hope I will be able to make it some where. Is there a schedule for the cities? I Heard about the "Advanced Master Class" a while back. Apparently the "new" movement in the is supposed to be an Automatic JLC being taught to people that have already done the first master class - very exiting stuff. Kind regards christian This message has been edited by ChristianOfDenmark on 2008-07-16 21:49:38 |

The left side is disappearing
Jul 17 2008,20:20 PM
et, Everytime I go to the "left side" of USA, I see more bits crumbling into the Pacific Ocean, so I guess soon our JLC friends will be setting up their tents on the Nevada beachfront Seriously, JLC PuristS should wail louder and then we can have a quiet chat with Mr Jerome Lambert, JLC CEO........?

Actually thrice
Jul 18 2008,08:23 AM
et, Actually, I've lazed and/or grazed through three short visits (each) to LA and/or San Francisco (1982 - 2007). Each time, there is a little bit less real estate.....

You're right, MTF

But I tink that during the mast Master Class in Paris, the movement was a the one of the Reverso XGT 8 Days. So, now this is interesting, as JLC offers the possibility to work on different calibers during these Master Classes! Best. Nicolas |

Cal 875 is in the Reverso Grande Date
Jul 17 2008,21:51 PM
I confirm : at least for the last 3 sessions, the movement used at the Paris JLC Master Class has been the Calibre 875 from the Reverso Grande Date, which has indeed a 8 days power reserve. It is the same movement as the one used for the watchmaking game on the JLC web site.
Not to be confused which the Reverso Grande Reserve aka Reverso 8 days which is now discontinued. Movement was ref. 874.
