My grand Seiko . . .
Jul 18 2008,09:30 AM

. . . a '65 Seiko Sea Lion that Dad bought in Kuwait on a business trip and tried to give me for my eighth birthday. He tells me that I refused the offer at the time (who knows, maybe I was holding out for a Rolex), and he wore it for over forty years until passing it on to me a few years ago. The watchmaker that performed the restoration commented that the original owner was a hard-working man, and sure enough, Pops used to wear this while working in the garden . . . cordially, Art This message has been edited by Dr No on 2008-07-18 09:32:26

The Novecento is one of a very few rectangular perpetual calendar
Jul 18 2008,18:34 PM

The Novecento is one of the first of very few rectangular perpetual calendar watches.  This one is early 1990’s and came on an 18k Bracelet.  Its the very clear face and the classic art deco proportions I love about this watch.

All adjustments for the perpetual calendar are set from the crown, its not possible to wind backwards so care is needed in changing the date.

Unfortunately my eye sight is not what it once was so seeing the detail in the sub dials is a problem, but the benefit of analogue is you can approximate the location of the hands and guess the date.

Its good to have others appreciate the thing I enjoy,

Cheers benio
