AP Roya Oak Red Scuba.....
Jul 06 2008,03:34 AM

I assume these are all spoken for but in preparation for the next limited colour could somebody please tell me the case size and if possible show a wrist shot or two..??  Maybe a shot next to a well known piece like a Panerai or Rolex for comparison.

I have small wrists so think the ROO would be a bit big....I have 1 dealer near me so will be having a look at somepoint but a little bit of preparation before doesn't hurt.

Yours,

Andy.

ROO Scuba wrist friendlier than ROO....
Jul 06 2008,08:14 AM

Hi Andy,

I have tried both the ROO Scuba blue(last year) and red (this year) limited edition and confirmed they are more wrist freindly than ROO.

The reason being, they are  not tall(the height) therefore its not hefty and comfortable on smaller wrist.Previously i owned ROO Safari and Alenghi, and have encountered the weight and comfort problems with these pieces. But due to the awesomeness of its hexagon case design, looking high and low for suitable pieces.

I guess you are facing the same problem as me,if that's the case,i assure you this is the piece you are looking for.Hope i answered your question.

thanks.

regards,

BHK9

I believe that the ROO Scuba is a bit smaller too.

As you I tied one ( the blue ), and I was amazed by its comfort...

Best.

Hi, BHK9
Jul 06 2008,08:58 AM

All fine here...Except that I see too many lovely watches, and that I have to resist to focus myself on my previous targets...

LOL

As for the Duo Metre, this is not a revelation, but a confirmation!

Best, and be nice, my friend! LOL

Here's a comparison shot of the AP Scuba Offshore w/ Montoya Offshore
Jul 06 2008,10:45 AM

that I have posted in the past.

This Scuba is the 1st Scuba which is the limited edition Wempe version made in 175 pieces.  Scuba fits better on the wrist on small wrists than the Montoya, and the Scuba overall is a little thinner than a standard Offshore.

And here are a couple wrists I posted during past Friday wrist shot scan days.  My wrist is around 6.75".

Cheers,
Anthony

Great comparison pic, Anthony

If only I was able to put the Montoya on my wrist, I'd never sell it!

And I tried hard ....

Best.

Thanks Anthony....
Jul 06 2008,11:06 AM

my wrist is about the same so looks perfect.....I actually thought they were much smaller and thought it would be too small so this puts my mind at rest.

Is there a regular version which would be easier to find than a limited one..??

Thanks,

Andy.

all scuba were limited
Jul 06 2008,19:53 PM

wempe/orange/blue/red.. all limited

case is exactly the same, the caseback=same thickness, only difference is bezel is 1/2 as thin.. and the watch wears better than a chrono..

comparison photos:

i would suggest looking for a used blue, as red is hard to find.. as far as a "new" one.. i wouldnt hold breath.. at least for anything soon.

I just sold my Blue Scuba . . .
Jul 07 2008,12:05 PM

I can confirm that the Scubas fit much better on small wrists as compared to chrono ROOs.  The Scuba is noticeably thinner and less bulky.  That being said, the Scuba was still awkward for me and I ultimately sold it.  I replaced it with a RM5, which sits infinitely better on my wrist.

My friend sold his Scuba for the same reason.  He recently acquired a City of Sails (40mm) and is much happier.  You might want to consider a 40mm ROO, such as the COSs.

My old Scuba on a custom hornback strap:

Great strap.....
Jul 07 2008,13:38 PM

but your killing me - a blue Scuba sold to get a RM005..!!!  A man of great taste indeed.  My local dealer does AP but isn't a boutique so I have asked him to ask some questions to AP and see what he comes back with.

Thanks for the pic..smile

Andy.

noone, besides boutique sells scubas' new
Jul 07 2008,21:59 PM

will have to buy used, or go to boutique and buy a regular piece at full piece (20,700) and then u can be allowed to purchase the scuba, (if they have any)

my suggestion would be used, as the msrp and grey market for a blue are about even..

i had to spend 20,700 x2 to be able to buy mine :-/

Thanks for the info.....

you must really like the Scuba..!!  Pity there isn't a regular Scuba but then again it is nice to keep it extra special for the collectors.

Andy.
