An evening lesson with Kurt Klaus

Nov 16, 2007,00:47 AM

Over the past week, IWC's legendary resident watchmaker, Kurt Klaus, was in Singapore for a series of watchmaking classes. Bernard already posted his excellent photos of the November 12 session on this forum, those pictures can be seen here .

Held at Sentosa Cove, adjacent to a marina, the class depicted in the following pictures was in the evening of November 13, 2007.

The agenda for the evening was simple, disassemble a cal. 952 movement, and then put it back together. AND have it run after that. All of that was done under the guidance of Kurt Klaus and his team of watchmakers from Schaffhausen.

All the tools needed to disassemble and reassemble the cal. 952... but having the tools doesn't mean you can do it, in one try at least. smile

A watchmaker from Schaffhausen removing the balance bridge. Us amateurs were strongly discouraged not to do so, we stopped our disassembly at the gear train.
