Overseas Chrono. as Travel Watch
Jul 01 2008,07:32 AM

Though an avid AP collector, I decided to try a VC Overseas Chronograph as a travel watch.  The comfort, antimagnetic properties, and 150 meter water resistance  all seem well suited to the task, and even the name and engraving on the case back suggest this use.

I require a chronograph at all times for timing work-related phone calls and reading for billing purposes.  Not uncommonly, I travel for work (suit and tie) and dress casually on the flights and if there is any downtime.  I've found the Royal Oak Chronograph a bit too dressy for short sleeves and even the most convervative of Offshores not always appropriate with a suit.  The VC Overseas Chronograph seemed a possible solution for a travel watch versatile enough for all occasions.  I briefly owned one with a black dial, but found the dial difficult to read in some lighting conditions because of reflection from the hands.

On a mixed business and pleasure trip last week, I wore my new silver dialed Overseas Chrono.  After the business part of the trip, we made it to the beach, and the Overseas took a dip in the surf.

This fills the bill nicely as a companion for the kind of travel described.  The lume is adequate, the comfort superior, and the dial engaging.

but I must warn you that if you wear it in the sun you will have a serious tan line where the watch is!

to everyone who does enjoy their watch in salt water, rinse it off with fresh water before the salt can bake on the watch. Thanks again for nice photographs.
Best, Tim

This Overseas Chrono is really in its element!

Yep, I love the idea of the watch to live with..In the business activities, or while you're on holiday...

This is for me the definition of the perfect watch, the worst definition being a watch which stays in the safe!

Thanks for this refreshing post!

Nicolas

Park, congratulations on your fabulous acquisition. Your photos are incredible especially the one in the water with the shells. I agree 100% with all your points - well said. It was a struggle for me at first over the silver or black dial, but the clarity was far superior with the one we share. The dial has different shades depending on the light and angle of the watch. Since my purchase only a few months ago I have not met anyone with this beauty - its very special alsmost like a limited edition. Look forward to seeing more posts from you and pics too!   Regards, Matt
