What's the model of this VC
Jun 27 2008,00:27 AM
Hi everyone, I'm new to the forums and this is my first message. Though I don't know about VC watches my father has one which was given to him as a present long time ago. I checked the web site of VC but our watch isn't similar to any of the models. Could someone make a comment about it's model and value. I'm completely sure that it's not fake since the person who gave it would never give fake things. Thx in advance. P.S: I took the pic with mobile phone so it's not very clear sorry about that.

Welcome to the forum...

The watch you have looks like a "form" variant of Vacheron Constantin's
"222." Does your watch say 222 on the caseback? There was an enormous
post on the 222 earlier this year: |

thank you for the reply

Thank you very much Bill for your reply. I checked out the link that you gave and yes I think so my watch looks like the square version of 222. There is a sticker of VC at the back side of the watch, maybe under the sticker the model of the watch is written, but I don't want to remove the sticker since it looks very nice.
One more thing, this watch was given as a present by Saudi Arabia former king to my father There is a seal of royal family at the place where normally "automatic" should be written(look pic). Would this fact increase or decrease the value of the watch?BTW, as you said if someone make a comment about it's value via pm, I will be happy. Thanks. [URL=http://www.resimupload.gen.tr/] |

I'm sure there is a great story behind...

the giving of a watch by the Saudi king. I recall having seen a number
of Patek Philippe watches with a picture of the Saudi king on them,
which I also assume were given as gifts. I can't say whether or not
such watches fetch a premium or discount to regular production PP
watches. |

Thanks everyone for their answers. Dear bill, actually there is no story for having it as a gift, just probably as a result of his generousness. Since it's an important gift for me I'm not planning to sell it or sth of course, I wanted to learn the value merely because of curiosity(Though I think it's not ethical to search the value of the gift [URL=http://www.resimupload.gen.tr/] |

Interesting variation on the 222 design...
Jun 28 2008,22:06 PM
I doubt the Royal Seal on your Dad's watch will hurt the value of the watch, but I'm not sure it adds any value. I've only seen a handful of 222s for sale in the past and never seen the square version for sale. Your best bet is to check some auction house web sites to see if they have sold any recently so that you might have an idea as to its value. Thanks for sharing a picture. I'd love to see more pix and clearer pix to see what the dial looks like. Best regards, Dino |

Hi there, thanks for the photos. They look very unique with the 4 allen screws and beautiful of course. This is definitely derived from the 222 design. Keep it well, i am sure it would be very meaningful to pass down to the next generation Thanks for the photos.
