Dimensional questions about the 5159
May 13 2008,22:39 PM

I have specific questions about this watch. I found that this watch is thicker and heavier than a 5040/5140. Can someone explain the reason for this? After all, the only big difference is that this has a retrograde calendar. I am naive in this and would like to know.

Hi,

In fact the 5159 has an officer case, that means a double case back, that makes it thicker!

Cheers

Interesting

I was looking at past Patek watches that had officer's style cases. There have not been many of them. Can you point me to any site where I can read about this? Are there other differences such as the actual mechanism itself. I can see why it is thicker from this, but why is it heavier?

Thanks

The case is heavier as gold is heavier than glass and because of its form! nt
