1815 moonphase question
May 11 2008,11:20 AM

Should the winding effort of the 1815 moonphase be any different (i.e stiffer/more difficult to wind) from that of the other 1815 models?

I think not. Why on earth should be more dificult to wind the moonwatch. The ressistance of the wind depend on the number of barrels, not the complicationes, isnt it?

Think you're correct, PET, BUT

It can also be diffrent if the watch needs to be serviced...
That's another logical explanation...

In that case no.

Because the architecture of the caliber is the same than the classic 1815 and because due to the Lange high quality the addition of a complication hasn't changed the winding effort.

If you are experiencing troubles, the service of the watch is required.

Thank you

Thank you PET, Nicolas and Francois for your observations and advice.  I didn't think that significant resistance when winding was a normal state of affairs as every other Lange that I've ever handled and/or owned wound effortlessly.  It's off to service.  The watch was orignally purchased in November, 2000 by the orginal owner, and while he religiously wound it once a month before putting it back in his safe (he only wore it several times after first purchasing it before putting it away), the watch has never been serviced.
