breguet marine chrono Vs. IWC Perpetual Calendar
May 04 2008,11:27 AM

after a lot of confusion I have finally settled on these two watches
1. portuguese pertual calendar II in white gold with grey dial
2. Breguet Marine Chronograph 5827 in white gold and white/black dial

they both cost about the same and both feel good on my wrist to me so just looking for your views...???

Just got the Marine 5827
May 04 2008,22:45 PM

I would go with the Breguet 5827. It is beautifully finished with very legible blued steel hands. Another unique feature is the centre minute counter. I have the0IWC  Da Vinci perpetual which is good if you never ever change the date inadvertently from 9 pm to 3 am, or you will screw up evrything and would need to send back to Schauffhausen for adjustment, which may take 3 months. The IWC slaye grey dial makes reading time a wee bit difficult. If you can find them, compare with the steel or platinum case first.

Regards. Jon.

Problem with the marine Chrono
May 13 2008,03:01 AM

Alas, I just had to return my new Marine Chrono 5827 because when the crown is fully pulled out for time adjustment, the second and minute hands continue to run, such that precise time adjustment was impossible. There it goes. Sigh!

Hack or not...
May 14 2008,22:27 PM

I am not sure but all my other watches from Panerai, Rolex, Ulysse Nardin, Parmigiani, IWC and Maurice Lacroix don't do this. How does one adjust time precisely if the minute and second hands continues to progress with the crown out? Strange.....

Are you a technical guy?
May 08 2008,09:21 AM

Hi sabatra,

Its rather hard to decide for your shoe but looking and wearing mine.LOLOLO....

First, are you a technical guy with lots of passion in mechanism and functionality?Since you have tried many times both the watches on your wrist,i assume they are fine to you.

What else collection do you have in your posession?I suppose you understand the beauty of perpetual and chronograph here.

If you do not have any of those above functionality,i propose you to have both as both are great watch of this decade. If you are force to choose one,i would say go down deep inside your heart, which one speak to you.....then go ahead without hesistation.

Gosh,Did i answer your question or didnt i.LOLOLO!

Thanks

BHK9

I own...
May 15 2008,00:46 AM

I own a Panerai Luminor GMT, Ulysse Nardin Maxi Marine Chronograph, Cartier Roadster... i am 27 years old and usually I dress casually 90% of the days in Jeans so I have always liked a little sporty watches...

these two are totally different watches as compared what I have ever bought and that is why I am a little hesitant... and confused...

Be careful, Sabatra, BHK9 is the Devil...LOL

2 different watches, too difficult to choose for you, my friend.
I'd say, personnally, go for the Perpetual Calendar, the IWC is a fine one, and you'll always have the time to get, after, the Breguet Chrono.
but between the 2, the IWC pc is maybe, horologcally speaking, the more interesting, even if the esthetic of the Breguet is very fine...
Just one question, which is in fact THE solution and THE answer...Which one speaks more to you?
Best.
nicolas, Co Devil...LOL

wow...
May 15 2008,05:02 AM

my thoughts exactly... one is a perpetual calendar so that’s an attraction but breguet is just so beautiful and eventually I shall end up with both of them.... but I wanna know in terms of brand and watch movement which one is superior and which one will be a pride of a watch collection...??

Angel comes to help......

Hi Sbatra,

Pride of watch collection?

Ok.How we define "Pride" here.A feeling of satisfaction or pleasure in what one can do or has done/resaonable self respect/the most valuable thing or person.

In this context you name "mechanism" in ties with the above sense of pride which derive from the above explanation.

A sense of self satisfaction or respected by others or most valueable on watch mechanism, here you refered to as Breguet Marine chrono or IWC perpetuals. You understand both watch are different in nature. To measure others perception on these two watches are a queation of moon and stars. This question lies in you,and your perception and you research made on both.why i said so.

It is difficult to determine the word "pride" in this context of mechanism. For example, one might question modern design mechanism as no "pride "in collection, but the other might argue back by saying, modern mechanism reflects "technology" that mankind created that's our "pride".And lots others excuses. Therefore, there are no ends in justifying these teo pieces' pride of collection.

I would susgesst what most of them have proposed to you, feel wgich one speaks to you more and grab it first and take the second one later. But in terms of modern functionality of perpetualand superior in mechanism(pellaton 7 days winding),in my opinion it would be the IWC.

This is just my thoughts in contribution to your question put up by you.

On the other hand,Devil is no words to use against me but "angel' would be more appropriate, isnt it?Hope i answered your question.

Anyway thanks Nicolas!

Regards,

BHK9
