Which Mark 3?

Nov 19, 2007,11:29 AM

Welcome Winsurf to our Chopard Forum.

The Mark 3 model name is the most challenging in the L.U.C range.  As there could be 3 References :

1) Mark 3 (III) -  Ref : 1905
2) Mark 3 Classic, with centre second  - Ref : 1907
3) Mark 3 Classic, with small second  - Ref :8500

Since you are asking about WG & RG, I guess it could be the 1905 series ( as shown below). I put a picture here, hopefully others could visualise the piece better and provide their inputs.

Please let me know if this is not the model you are asking.

The answers could only be from you, as only you know your own preference.

Next  your gender is important. Though L.U.C is mostly sought after by male, I've several lady friends wear them too.

Even if you've the intention to share the watches, these questions will come into play.

1) Would you prefer to be stealthy (or understated)?  Typically the understated personality would prefer WG to RG/YG so as not to attract attention.

2) What are the metal-type of  your other accessories (rings, pens, belt buckle, ear rings, etc)?

If most are in white metal-base ( steel, silver, platinum, WG, rhodium), a WG watch might match well, and vice-versa (with yellow base metal).

3) This is from my observation.  What's your skin tone? ( I asked this question, as we might wear short sleeve, especially for warmer areas)
A fair-skin tone person tends to go well with WG as compare to RG/YG.  The more tan-skin tone, looks more stunning in RG.

I hope it helps and others will provide some inputs too.

Please show us some pics whichever you choose!

Kong

Hello Kong, thanks for the warm welcome & fast response. The picture was spot on (it is the 1905) I know that it also comes in SS, but in your opinion is it worth to pay for one in precious metal? Since all else is the same... The only feature that I pref...

Thanks. Just to clarify a point, the 1905 does not come in SS. The SS is likely to be the Mark 3 Classic ( Ref:8500) which IWC2006 mentioned. Indeed great value for the buck for a SS, with a superb well-finished in-house movement. Check it out. If you pre...

demand for that the Mark 3 Classic is very good in many locations, so your leverage will need to be significant. The yearly L.U.C production is only 3,000 pcs movements (as of now). So from commercial perspective, L.U.C should be wise enough not to produc...

Dear Kong, Thanks very much for your inputs....indeed having a big headache...but a pleasant one..hehehe Don't think I'm able to get a hold on the 1860 (hunter-case) as find it little too small, though it's a excellent piece. Managed to sight both the 850...
