Vintage Omega dial experts please come in! Have recently picked up this NOS Omega dial, for my caliber 503 Omega Seamaster Calendar watch and thought to post pictures inviting Purists expert opinions after a dear friend, and most respected collector point...

I agree with your friend, Rishad . . .

. . . the printing appears preternaturally bold to my eyes as well. Art

i take it you mean unusually bold, it looks like its just come out of the factory. G

Thanks

Thanks very much for that, I hope that's not the case in truth..... the "just left the factory" bit...! :-)) Rishad

Doc, some of us call that "over-inked".

It's a sure tip off of a refinished dial.

should be easy to see.......

if there is ANY gap between the dial surface and the applied markers, it is refinished. in this case i think, it is. there is a gap at the 11 marker and the spacing and "thickness" of the print tells the story. kind regards. achim

WhatToLookFor?

I'd be surprised if the dial were refinished, as it comes from a reputed dealer at full price. Please elaborate on what makes this such a certain refinish, so I know what to look for henceforth, and missed this time? Thanks, Rishad

Gap

Thanks Achim, I came home from work and first thing put it under a 7x loupe to see that you're absolutely correct to say there is a very slight gap under the 11 marker. Truly amazed at how you noticed that from the pic, which is far from that magnified. H...

not a great picture, but...

perhaps you can see the finer print on my 503. it's so fine in some places, in fact, it can't be seen. hmm. perhaps this isn't a good example. ...

Here is an example....
