Variety is the only true aphrodisiac

Unless it is your only watch.  I enjoy wearing anything from 36-46mm.  My wrist is 7 inches.  Unless the lugs are hanging off your wrist, the issue of size is not about your wrist, but rather between your ears.

Yes and no

Yes, as in, that was the trend and that is not now the trend. No, as in, those sorts of watches are not going anywhere and are still as well (or badly) put together and worthy (or unworthy) of ownership as they ever were.

Very well put. My opinion exactly.

forget what is the "right" size in general terms. It depends on the watch and your wrist.

No,these watches still have a reason to be!!

Ok,if you are a 65 kg person with a 13 cm wrist there are better options around. The only thing what counts is whether you like it on your wrist or not : in 99.9% of all the cases other people will be completely indifferent to the watch that you are weari...

Personally, I hope not ...

I enjoy the heft, legibility and wrist presence of large watches.

If it works for you

Do it! This is a classic. What I like on my wrist is irrelevant to anyone else.

Come and gone... absolutely not.

It's strictly market manipulation and creation by the manufacturers. You know, the next best thing, what's old is new and so on. If you like it and it suits your wants, jump on it!

I would look at the watch per se...

Fro example, with one like this, I would not be disturbed by the size... ...

To be large or not to be....

Shakespeare said it best. No i dont think 42 is large, i saw this piece recently in person for the first time and i have a smaller wrist and it is quite lovely. Below is the picture from a recent trip. I have a smaller size wrist of 6.75 inches and have w...

I am with you on that.

Yes.

Because I have a 6.75 inch wrist. Never found the appeal. But what matters most is how you like it on your wrist!

That Portugieser (and the earlier Portuguese version) is one of my all-time favorites.

Always has been and always will be, regardless of any trend. If you like it, do not be concerned. It is a classic and a fantastic watch.

Wonderful IWC! I had that one and thought it wore bigger than 42 due to its large dial/small bezel. I'm not huge and generally am now preferring smaller watches but still own and like some

large watches. Some work on my 6 1/2" wrist and some don't. Calipers don't tell the whole story. If you like how it feels and looks on you... buy it!
